Firefox tähistas 9. novembril oma esimest sünnipäeva alates esimese brauseriversiooni ametlikust turulepaiskamisest ning praeguseks on Firefoxi Mozilla kodulehelt alla laaditud juba üle 100 miljoni korra.
Kokku valdab Firefox umbes 10 protsenti brauseriteturust ning tal on 40 kuni 50 miljonit regulaarset kasutajat.
Brauserite turu liidriks on endiselt Microsofti Internet Explorer, millega surfavad internetis umbes 85 protsenti arvutikasutajatest.

Nüüd siis avalikult 2.0 versioon väljas.
Samas saanud ka koduleht koos sellega väheke uuenenud välimuse

UUENDUS: Hetkel veel paljud extensionid ei tööta 2.0 versiooniga, kuid küll saabub aeg kui arendajad need ka 2.0 versioonile sobivateks muudavad, seni saab jälgida
siit 2.0 versiooniga töötavaid lisasid.

Firefox jagab kasutajate paroole laiali

Senini turvaliseks peetud Mozilla Firefox veebibrauseri paroolihalduris avastati ohtlik turvaauk.
Paroolilekke võimaluse avastas juhuslikult Chapini Infokeskuse omanik Robert Chapin, kui ta oma MySpace’i suhtluskeskkonna kontosse sisse logis, kirjutab Inquirer.
Probleem seisneb selles, et Firefoxi paroolihaldur täidab automaatselt antud alamdomeeni piires olevate lehtede paroolinõuded oma mälus olevate andmetega, ilma et sellest kasutajat teavitaks.
Kogemata kombel avastas Chapin, et keegi «kalamees» ehk kuritegelikke paroolivarguste veebilehti loov tegelane, kelle leht imiteerib mingit teist lehte, oli sokutanud lehe login.myspace.com nii osavalt kasutajatele ette, et enamik ei märganud pettust.
Samuti ei hoiatanud pettuse eest Firefoxi uues versioonis olev anti-phishing moodul ning brauser täitis viksilt lahtrid kasutaja logimisnime ja parooliga, mis olid ehtsa MySpace konto jaoks. Chapini raportiga saab põhjalikumalt tutvuda bugzilla veebilehel.

Mozilla Thunderbird is a redesign of the Mozilla mail component. The goal is to produce a cross platform stand alone mail application using the XUL user interface language. The intended customer is someone who uses Mozilla Firefox (or another stand alone browser) as their primary browser and wants a mail client based on mozilla that "plays nice" with the browser.

Firefox v3.0 Alpha 2 Pre
Firefox 3 is focused on improved memory handling, performance, and stability, improved XUL, and new core components such as application data stored in SQLite. Firefox 3 could break a few existing extensions and applications built on top of Firefox, and it will definitely include new optimizations if you like to build on the popular browser. Firefox 3 should have additional JavaScript and SVG features if you're into that sort of thing.

At the moment the Sunbird name is a project name. It is not official and may change in the future.
