Weather conditions across Estonia on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, will be unsettled, with variable cloud cover, frequent rain showers, and thunderstorms affecting many parts of the country throughout the day.
According to the forecast, rain and thunderstorms will develop in several regions, bringing locally heavy downpours and the possibility of hail. Thunderstorm cells may also produce strong and gusty winds. Northerly winds of 3–9 m/s are expected across most of the country, while southern Estonia will see southerly winds. Daytime temperatures will range between 14°C and 21°C.
Level 1 Thunderstorm Warnings Issued
A Level 1 thunderstorm warning has been issued for several counties in central, eastern, and southern Estonia, as well as parts of Harju County and Saarde Parish in Pärnu County. The warnings are generally valid from 10:00 to 18:00, while some areas in southern Estonia are under warning from 09:00 to 17:00.
Forecasters warn that thunderstorms may bring intense rainfall, strong wind gusts, and isolated hail. Motorists and outdoor enthusiasts are advised to monitor local weather conditions and be prepared for rapidly changing weather.
Strong Wind Warning on Lake Peipus
A separate Level 1 strong wind warning is in effect for Lake Peipus. During the morning, east and southeast winds will reach 8 m/s with gusts up to 12 m/s. From midday onward, winds will turn southerly and southwesterly, strengthening to 10 m/s with gusts reaching 14 m/s.
Wave heights on the lake are expected to range between 0.7 and 1.3 metres. Rain and thunderstorms may reduce visibility at times, while air temperatures will remain between 17°C and 19°C.
Weather Outlook for Tonight
During the night into June 10, skies will remain partly cloudy with scattered showers. After midnight, cloud cover will increase from the western islands, and rain will gradually spread eastward across the mainland by morning.
Southerly winds will blow at 2–8 m/s, increasing on the islands after midnight as southwesterly winds strengthen to 5–10 m/s with gusts up to 15 m/s. Overnight temperatures will range from 9°C to 14°C.
Wednesday Forecast
Conditions are expected to improve on Wednesday as cloud cover gradually decreases from the west and rain showers move eastward. Southwest to west winds of 4–10 m/s will continue, with gusts reaching 15 m/s along the coast and on the islands before easing later in the day.
Daytime temperatures will climb to 17–21°C, although some coastal areas may remain cooler at around 14°C.
