March 13, 2026 — Estonia is currently under the influence of warm air masses, bringing temperatures that are unusually high for mid-March. However, the pleasant warmth is accompanied by intensifying winds, prompting the Weather Service to issue an official warning.

Friday, March 13: Increasing Winds and Temperature Contrasts

Throughout the day, few and variable clouds are expected with dry conditions. The primary concern is a sharp increase in wind speeds across the country.

  • Wind: Mainly south wind 4–10 m/s, with gusts reaching 15 m/s. On the islands and the western coast, conditions will be more severe, with speeds of 7–14 m/s and gusts up to 19 m/s.

Lake Peipus: Mainly south wind 4–8 m/s, with gusts up to 12 m/s. Dry conditions with moderate to good visibility. Air temperatures will range between +5...+9°C.

Friday Night, March 14: Clear Skies and Mild Conditions

The night will be clear or slightly cloudy, and the weather will remain dry.

  • Temperature: The thermometer will stay above freezing, ranging from +2 to +6°C.
  • Wind: South and southeast winds 4–9 m/s, with gusts up to 12 m/s. On the coast, gusts of 17 m/s are expected, though the wind will begin to decrease slightly after midnight.

Saturday, March 14: The Peak of Spring Heat

The day will bring clear or slightly cloudy skies. While Western Estonia may see more variable cloudiness, it will remain mostly dry.

  • Temperature: A very warm day is expected, with temperatures climbing to +9...+16°C. On the windward coast, it will stay cooler at +4°C.
  • Wind: South and southeast winds 4–10 m/s, with gusts up to 14 m/s.

Active Storm Warnings

The Weather Service has issued a Level 1 warning:

Estonia-wide: On March 13, a strengthening south wind will hit Western Estonia in the forenoon and Northern Estonia in the afternoon. Gusts are expected to reach 15 m/s inland and up to 19 m/s on the coasts. Caution is advised for maritime activities and securing light structures.
